The Clothes Exchange
2010
WATCH for the DATE: May 2010
PLACE: Main Street Landing - Union Station
TIME: 6:00 - 8:30 PM
2009 Benefit Charity: Works for Women
2008 Benefit Charity: The Hicks Foundation to eradicate cervical cancer in the State of Vermont.
The Clothes Exchange is an organization that selects, through an application process, a different worthy charity each year to receive the benefit of all of the fashionable women in Vermont's closet audits! Purge those closets, set aside the great items, that you do not wear, but that someone else might love tomorrow, and save them for the Clothes Exchange on May 15, 2008. Many of you will remember the Flynn Theater benefit that we donated items to for years. Dress for Success takes appropriate business attire, but not in smaller sizes (my problem)! SO this is a perfect option for your fashionable and business items that don't love you as much of you loved them when you bought them! Well worn items with casual wear left in them as well as men's and children's itmes need to be donated elsewhere like the Salvation Army in Burlington or South Burlington, or Goodwill Industries in Williston.
What to Donate?
The Clothes exchange is looking for new (don't we all have something that was a great buy that still hangs in our closet with the tags on?), lightly used, and vintage quality clothes and accessories (shoes, belts, hats, jewelry) that fashion conscious women would pay for. If you wouldn't let your best friend wear it (assuming it was her size, color and style!), the Clothes Exchange probably won't want it. Another way to look at each item: If you would not buy it in it's current condition or style, do not bring it to the Clothes Exchange!
They will not accept:
T-shirts, old jeans, and worn-out basics
Men's and children's clothing
Underware and swim suits
Clothes from "big box" retailers
Shoes
Donate your clothing and accessories
